hiphipBOOray

Happy Halloween everyone! A big sloppy boo kiss from Eden to you.
This being her first halloween, and our first in NJ, let me just tell you a couple things we've learned so far today.
1) Its OK to go trick or treating at 2:00pm. Or 3pm. Hey, why not start at noon??
2) Its OK to go trick or treating when you are 12 years old, especially if you go out at 2pm. Cause its going to rain later, ya know.
3) If you see something in the bowl that you like, just reach in and grab it.
4) If you see something in the bowl that you like, but are too shy to just grab it, then ask the homeowner if you can have the "yellow one".
5) Nevermind saying thank you!

Seriously, the kids we've had so far are not following any of the "rules" I know for the sport. Hope you get the team players in your neighborhood!

Love Eden's outfit.

Lights are are, kids are polite, waiting for the onslaught. Only 70 minutes to go until lights out. Sky is a little misty, but the kids keep coming. See what you are missing in Hyattsville?

Pesky kids. I remember having a blast going out ALL night until or pillow case loot bag was full. Trick or treaters these days are lame.

Trick or treating in the afternoon doesn't sound like a problem to me. It's safer than after dark and who wants to trick or treat in the rain? Grabbing candy out of a bowl is a bit rude, and everyone should always say thank you. As for the older kids, my rule is that if you are old enough to wear a beer-related, "sexy" or otherwise suggestive costume, you are too old to trick or treat and I'd tell the little rats as much. :-)

I bet your city has some sort of ordinance or code they follow. Here it's 5 to 7 every year. When we lived in Milwaukee (think scary), it was ALWAYS on a Sunday in the afternoon for a designated time (of course we couldn't go on a Sunday and were in church when all the kids came!). It's so much better here, and only the neighbors come which is really nice.

As a Mom who takes my kids around, I am coming across a lot of homeowners who just thrust the bowl out to my kids after they say "trick or treat". It's nice for the kids to pick, but I prefer when they just toss it in... and you get what you get and say thanks. Maybe you live in a neighborhood of bowl sticker outers and the kids think that's the norm.
